Is it possible to be a Christian if you are to follow the Official Roman Catholic teaching on Salvation? Let’s look at the Catholic position on it. We will see that the Roman Catholic position is contrary to Bible Scripture!
There is a process in the Catholic System to attaining Salvation. First God grants actual grace to the person to be able to believe in Christ and the truth of the Catholic Church (CCC 2000). After the person believes, they must be Baptized (CCC 1257), which infuses Grace into the person (CCC 1999) thus erasing original sin (CCC 405). After the Baptism and the Catholic is saved. But wait a minute, in order to maintain their Salvation they must it is necessary to perform “Good Works” (CCC 2010, 2068, 2080), and must perform Sacraments (CCC 1129). But, grace can be lessened by venial sins or lost entirely by mortal sins. To get rid of Venial sins the Catholic is to take the Eucharist and also perform penance. And this goes on and on….
The Biblical Christian response to all this is clear. Since the Catholic Church maintains a “Works – Faith” doctrine, the Bible, let’s see what the Bible says about that.
Roman 3: 28 28-30 for we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law. 29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Is He not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, 30 since indeed God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised.
Romans 4: 1-5 1 What then shall we say that Abraham, 1our forefather according to the flesh, has found? 2 For if Abraham was justified 1by works, he has something to boast about, but not 2before God.3For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”4Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due.5But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness,
I will leave you with Romans 11: 6, 6 But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.
If you are a Catholic please think about what the Bible says and not a man-made Religion.
