Mindfulness Teaching In Schools; What is it? And Why Is It Happening?

This comes directly from the website http://mindfulnessinschools.org:

“A brief history of mindfulness

Mindfulness is said to have originated in Buddhist thinking and meditation practice over two and a half thousand years ago. Its original purpose was to address and relieve self-induced suffering caused by the dysfunctional ways people habitually tend to respond to their experience.

Over the last 30 years, mindfulness has become secularized and simplified to suit a Western context. In the 1970’s anecdotal and research findings of the ability of meditation to reduce unhealthy psychological symptoms triggered interest in mindfulness as a healthcare intervention. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the Medical Center at the University of Massachusetts introduced the first eight week structured mindfulness skills training programme which gave considerable psychological, and some physical, relief, to patients experiencing intractable severe pain and distress from a wide range of chronic physical health conditions.

Since then mindfulness interventions and research have proliferated across the world, and the emerging evidence base suggests that mindfulness has a wide range of potential applications.”

Ladies and gentlemen, this is Buddhism dressed up in a slightly different package. This should come as an outrage to Christians! The secular school (brainwashing) system has forbidden prayer and bibles in the classroom and now teach Buddhism! This is Satanic and should NOT be practiced by anyone especially Christians. This is being taught along with Yoga.

http://greatergood.berkeley.edu/ reports: “The last decade has seen a huge spike in secular applications of mindfulness, the practice of focusing our attention on our thoughts, feelings, and the environment in the present moment. While the first wave of mindfulness-based programs was for adults, more recent efforts have targeted the well-being of children and adolescents; as a result, mindfulness programs in schools are becoming more and more widespread.”

This is a serious problem Christian. We must fight this satanic practice now!

Occult Practices
9 When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. 10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.

Centering Prayer: What Is It? Is It Dangerous?

A term and action is being pushed by the emergent church called “Centering Prayer” or also known by a few other monikers such as “Contemplative Prayer.” and a few more.

This is practiced by “emptying the mind” and “stillness”, and in many cases repeating something to feel God’s presence. It is based on occult and eastern religious practices. Emptying the mind is NOT Christian as it opens up the Christian to demonic influences.

Contemplateiveoutreach.org recommends the following four guidelines (steps):

1.Choose a sacred word as the symbol of your intention to consent to God’s presence and action within.

2.Sitting comfortably and with eyes closed, settle briefly and silently introduce the sacred word as the symbol of your consent to God’s presence and action within.

3.When engaged with your thoughts, return ever-so-gently to the sacred word.

4.At the end of the prayer period, remain in silence with eyes closed for a couple of minutes.

These steps reek of occultism.

Romans 12:2- 1-2 (NASB) clearly contradicts the centering prayer practice…

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

We as Christians are to seek God, but not by vain repetitious prayer! We must seek God with an active mind. Stay away from this practice that is occult in origin.

What’s up with Wicca? What’s up with our Kids?

According to the “American Religious Identification Survey” done last year, Wicca is the fastest growing religion in the United States. Interestingly the biggest part of that growth is in the High School and Collegiate students’ bracket. As a footnote to fairness, surveys can be skewed and some identified with Wicca but were not practicing the rituals as was apparently disclosed in this study. However, surveys are still a good indicator of the actual social movements.

This to me is a frightening swing with the second fastest religion in North America is Islam. Why is this happening to our youth? Is it because young people can become confused and lose direction between adolescence and adulthood? Is it Hollywood with the glorification of Witchcraft in a film? With the body of Christ becoming more and more divided we as Christians must stop fighting over non-salvation issues and come together in unity. We must not only be on guard with our children but must fight the evils that are dressed up as “Glamorous”.
